Energize your career with an internship at KCP&L.

Interns in the field

Are you a smart, strategic thinker with a strong work ethic and a desire to work in the energy field? Are you looking for a well-paying position that also offers real-world, hands-on experience? Would you like to make a meaningful impact on the community? Do you have at least a 2.8 GPA?

If this describes you, then you’re exactly the kind of student we’re looking for.

Whether you’re studying engineering, information technology, finance/accounting, human resources or marketing and communications, we have an opportunity for you.

What you can expect

KCP&L interns dive right into meaningful projects. They receive mentorship from professionals in their focus areas. They benefit from real-world experience. And they have an inside track for full-time jobs with us.

Over the course of our summer internship, interns experience:

  • Meaningful, mentor-led projects
  • Presenting to our executive staff and peers
  • Tours of our facilities, including power-generation sites
  • Networking events, including baseball games and mixers
  • Lunch-and-learn opportunities to understand other parts of the company
  • Group volunteer events

How to apply

To begin your journey as an intern with us, please visit our booth during college spring and fall recruiting events (see below). We may also post potential openings here. In addition, you can reach out directly to our Human Resources department via email. Be sure to include your full name and major in the subject line.
